I've been disabled for as long as I can remember since doctors don't actually know when my brain injury happened.

It doesn't make sense how society pushes this image of disability exclusively associated with old age.

I’m ‘too young’ to use the disabled parking spots.
‘Too young’ to have pain in my joints.
‘Too young’ to call myself disabled.

These are things I’ve heard from family, friends, strangers. #DisabilityHasNoAgeRequirement

i've been trying to get help with the pain of partially dislocating joints since i was a kid. but teachers/parents/etc always told me it was "growing pains" and that i was "too young to be in pain"

guess who has to get an EDS evaluation now?

I now get Remicade infusions every 6 weeks to help keep my UC in remission and manage my chronic pain. Some infusions take better than others. I still have pain but it is slightly more manageable. My UC is controlled with many medications.

My Ulcerative Colitis caused the inflammation in my body to skyrocket; my body literally attacks itself in an effort to try and heal it. Normal C-Reactive protein counts are less than 10mg; mine was almost 20mg on a good day

Had digestive issues my whole life growing up. They really came to a head when my gallbladder was removed; that's when UC became prominent. With UC came chronic pain; it affected every one of my joints and I was only 22.

I have to use a cane at times because it was so hard for me to walk or stand without assistance. On transit people look at me accusingly like I'm faking the need for a cane or won't let me have a seat to help me.
