At 10 months old, Peter was diagnosed with cancer and needed over 50 blood transfusions to save his life. Today, Peter gives those units back and more by hosting blood drives.

“I get to help people on their worst day,” Red Cross volunteer David Aks said. “It’s an amazing feeling to bring comfort & care into the hands of people who have just lost their home & everything in it. That feels good, like I’ve made a difference in somebody's life today."
Sabrina Allen of Lake Charles, LA, is a single mother to two special-needs girls. While evacuated for #HurricaneLaura, Red Cross shelter workers helped Sabrina secure important supplies, like a hospital bed and lift.
“People I didn’t even know adopted my family,” she said.
“One of the most rewarding parts of disaster relief is taking the opportunity to talk to the evacuees."
